It’s High School Musical Season!

At the College Care Package Company, our focus is sending care packages to your college students to make sure they feel the love coming from home. But we also customize and curate boxes for other specific events and situations.

My daughter was a musical theatre kid. She appeared in dozens of productions with her high school and a local community theater over her eight years of theatre participation. As you might guess, we developed strong relationships with the school officials and fellow theatre parents.

Over the years, she often had a scratchy throat from all of the singing and dialogue done at rehearsal, and she was always looking for ways to soothe her throat. We learned the best techniques to ease her scratchy throat, including hot tea that coated her throat, Manuka honey, strong lozenges and even a mister to use before shows. And we stocked up on the items she would need for every show, like bobby pins, makeup, hairspray and makeup remover.

She also loved the “show gift” she got for every show she was in. It started with stuffed animals that represented her role and progressed as she got older to customized show ornaments for each show.

As we started offering curated boxes, show Break A Legs seemed like obvious (and fun!) projects to take on. We’ve created several boxes so far for the high school from which my daughters graduated, and the thespians love them.

They are full of items to help them through Tech Week, like:

·      Throat Coat tea bags

·      Strong throat lozenges

·      Emergen-C

They also include items to help them get ready for the stage, like:

·      Mini hairspray can

·      Bobby pins

·      Makeup wipes

·      Hand sanitizer

Each box is also customized for the specific show, with items like:

·      Show-related stickers for their water bottles

·      Mini plush toy

·      Frame with cast photo

One of the favorite items is a coffee mug that says, “Apparently I’m Dramatic.” And the box is finished off with a few snacks, like popcorn and Sour Patch Kids, that they can munch on between scenes during Tech Week.

Does your student have a spring musical coming up? Put us in touch with the show’s director about curating a box specific to their show. Or contact us individually to put together the perfect box for your student’s specific role.
